In many training courses for designers and engineers, the topic of lubrication is neglected. In the overall context, however, lubrication is an essential element when there are moving elements in components or applications. We can and would like to make seminar participants aware of the fundamental importance of lubrication and its challenges in order to sensitize them for their daily work. Our basic seminar systematically conveys the basic knowledge: What is friction and how does it occur? The different types of friction - static, sliding, rolling and mixed friction - are clearly explained. What wear mechanisms are there? From abrasion and adhesion to surface disintegration. How does lubrication work? The Stribeck curve as a central concept is explained clearly. What types of lubricants exist and when are they used? Participants learn to recognize tribological problems and to tackle them systematically. Practical examples show typical errors and how to avoid them. At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to formulate tribological requirements in specifications and understand lubricant specifications.

Good design takes tribology into account right from the start - our seminar shows how. Design engineers learn to take a holistic view of tribological systems: Material selection is the first step. Which pairings work well? Steel/bronze, ceramic/steel, plastic/metal - advantages and disadvantages. Surface design influences friction and wear. Roughness, hardness, coatings - what makes sense and when? Constructive lubrication needs to be learned. Lubrication pockets, grooves, depot effects - clever solutions for permanent lubrication. Types of movement influence lubrication. Linear, rotating, oscillating - different requirements. Practical examples show successful and unsuccessful designs. Learning from the mistakes of others saves you from making your own. At the end of the seminar you will be able to recognize and avoid tribological risks.
