The Herbert Tillwich company is founded in Berlin Spandau by Herbert and Dr. Maria Tillwich. They produce the first synthetic watch oils. The Etsyntha watch oils were born.

New company building with development laboratory and production in Horb-Ahldorf.




1974

Werner Stehr joins the company of his parents-in-law Dr. Maria and Herbert Tillwich. He develops the first tribological model testing systems for precision mechanics and watch technology. With the possibilities of tribological simulation, special plastic oils and plastic greases can be developed for the lubrication of plastic bearings and plastic gears.




1978

After the death of Herbert Tillwich, Werner Stehr becomes Managing Director of Dr. Tillwich GmbH together with Dr. Maria Tillwich.




1982

Foundation of Etsyntha of America in Los Angeles. Sales activities are expanded worldwide.




1984

Susanne Beyer begins her training as a chemical laboratory assistant with Dr. Maria Tillwich.




1986

Dr. Maria Tillwich leaves the company and retires.




1994

Expansion of the company buildings with several warehouses, laboratories and a workshop.




1995

Dr. Maria Tillwich is the first and so far only woman to receive the Georg Vogelpohl Medal of Honour from the Society for Tribology (GfT) for her services as a scientist and entrepreneur.




2006

Werner Stehr receives the Georg Vogelpohl Medal of Honor from the Society for Tribology (GfT).




2008

Susanne Beyer-Faiß becomes an authorized signatory and member of the management board.




2011

Susanne Beyer-Faiß becomes sole managing director. Werner Stehr remains the sole shareholder.




2014

Susanne Beyer-Faiß and Werner Stehr, together with their project partners from the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft, receive the Stifterverband's Science Award in the category of collaborative research for the joint research project "Liquid-crystalline lubricants for minimal friction losses and maximum service life".




2016

Beyer-Faiß Management-Holding GmbH acquires 100% of the shares in Dr. Tillwich GmbH. Werner Stehr remains with the company as a cooperation partner and expert in applied tribology.




2023

Installation of a photovoltaic system on the roofs of the company building with additional battery storage. This produces more electricity than the company consumes on average.




2024

Expansion of the company buildings with a warehouse, garage, production rooms and a recycling center.

Installation of a modern air heat pump heating system and removal of the old oil heating system.
