Watchmakers from Villingen-Schwenningen visit Horb-Ahldorf

On May 19, 2026, we hosted the master watchmaker class and the third-year apprentices from the State School of Precision Engineering in Villingen-Schwenningen.

During an engaging presentation by Ms. Susanne Beyer-Faiß on the specific properties of lubricants used in watchmaking—from wristwatches to grand clocks—the participants learned about the latest lubricant concepts as well as their strengths and weaknesses. They also received answers to numerous questions related to the practical aspects of watchmaking. The afternoon concluded with a tour of the facility, during which practical experiments on friction, wear, and lubrication were conducted. The 15 students and 2 teachers were enthusiastic about the versatility and depth of the topic. After a final discussion and a snack, the students and teachers headed back to Villingen-Schwenningen.
