Lubricant requirements:
Ball joints have a large contact surface from hence a low surface pressure. The type of movement is back-from-forth (oscillating). The lubricant must prevent stick-slip at low sliding speeds, and its consistency must prevent impermissibly high breakaway force even after long periods of disuse.
